Training centre

Getting hands-on from Day One at the SKET training centre.

With an average of forty apprentices in four year-groups, we are one of the most active but also attractive training centres in Saxony-Anhalt. You will be given a practical preparation for everyday production work under optimal conditions in our centre, which covers an area of 1,400 m2. Our training team will teach you all the basics you need for your profession here. And you will already be getting your hands on the large CNC machine tools in the second year of your course – only SKET provides this opportunity.

Application process

We want to get to know you and find out about your potential. Tell us on our online form which particular career you are interested in training for. Then you can show us what you’re made of in an aptitude test. The first part will require you to solve written and mental problems. Then we will put your skill with your hands to the test. If your results are good enough, we will invite you to an interview. If both you and we pass muster, we will look forward to welcoming you as a new apprentice at SKET.

4 steps to a place on a training course

1
Complete the online form.
2
We’ll invite you to sit a test. Bring with you your most recent school certificate and a CV.
3
If you pass the test, we will invite you to an interview.
4
Then, if we’re impressed by your potential and you think SKET would be a good fit for you, you can sign your training contract!

Answers to your questions

For 3 ½ years, regardless of profession. The first examination is held after 1 ½ years (Part 1 of the final exam), and accounts for 40% of your final mark.
For industrial mechanics and metal cutting machine operators, it’s in Magdeburg. Mechatronics engineers attend the vocational college in Schönebeck.
We operate a forty hour working week. During the first and second year of training, you will be based in the training workshop. You will learn and work here within a normal shift system. We start at 7.30 am. When you are completing your practical placement in one of our departments, you will have to fit in with the shift system which operates there. This might be a normal shift, but work might also be organised on a two or three-shift basis.
You can advance your career by qualifying as an engineer, master craftsman or Bachelor. We have provided financial support to many of our employees in the past to help them qualify.
